The Rose Varieties

Species Roses or Wild Roses. These roses have simple five petalled flowers with many stamens. Many only flower once in Spring and usually produce fleshy hips.

Pictured below are a number of Species Roses and Species Hybrids which are being prepared for the new Species section of the Park's rose garden.

Already growing in the Shrub and Gallica area and also illustrated below is R. pomifera duplex or Wolley-Dod's rose. It is not strictly a species rose but a species hybrid.
